Why translate and localise your product listings?

Fulfilment by Amazon helps sellers grow their business, allowing customers from all over the world to buy their products. However, if your Amazon listings aren’t translated and localised for each country and language, it is unlikely that shoppers will find and understand your products.

By translating your Amazon listings you will be able to better reach customers from all over the world. They can buy your products at no extra cost to you and you can grow your business.

Our Amazon listing translations roadmap

This is how our Amazon listing translation service works:

1) Translation checklist

The content of your product listings or your Amazon store may be more than you first think. We make sure you don’t miss any information you may want to include in your new marketplaces, including

  • Title
  • Bullet points
  • Product description
  • Country-specific imagery
  • Amazon A+ content
  • Legal disclaimer

2) Keyword research

Translating your Amazon listings without paying attention to the keywords can be a waste of time. If your listings don’t include the specific keywords people use in their languages, they won’t find your products

Our specialized translators use keyword research tools such as Helium 10 and Ahrefs to find out what people search for in each country and language. Once we have created your list of keywords, we use the key phrases that your potential customers search for in the translation of your content.

3) Translating vs localising

Word-by-word translation doesn’t always work. Why? Languages do not always refer to the same thing in the same way. For example, the product description of a toy in English may include the sentence “toy for toddler”, but you can not translate it word-by-word into languages such as Italian or Spanish because there isn’t a specific word to refer to “toddler”.

Our language experts are able to successfully localise your content so it resonates with your target audience.

4) Country-specific imagery

Images and infographics are important to better connect with your shoppers. They also help them understand the features of your products and how to use them. But for obvious reasons, the text on the imagery needs to be translated

If you want to go a step further, you may consider adapting some images to better connect with your new target audience. This may include adapting colours or visual elements, such as icons or country-specific awards, to match cultural nuances and consumer preferences.

5) Remaining creative (transcreation)

Brands must think creatively to produce content that truly resonates with their audience. Your slogans, taglines or marketing campaigns need to appeal to your potential customers in order to convert. When communicating in a new language, you need to make sure your content still has the same impact in the new market.

If you are planning to go global, you may require transcreation services (from translation and creation) alongside translation to make a good first impression. This is particularly important if you have A+ Content with catchy taglines and banners where you want to communicate your brand story and unique value proposition.
